In the conference room of the Golden Sea Tang Public Security Bureau’s Criminal Investigation Team, a group of investigators were intensely discussing the case.

The discussion revolved around the fact that the police had found records on Lü Yuchan’s phone (recovered from her belongings) of her searching online for information like “Is cyanide the king of poisons?”, “What is the lethal dose of cyanide?”, and “Does cyanide have a strange smell when put in water?”

The browsing history showed that she searched for this information between 0:45 and 1:13 on May 7, 2018, two months before the “7.18” poisoning case in Jincheng.

After the poisoning case, the police, through investigation and analysis, determined that Lü Yuchan was not a suspect. Additionally, her phone was damaged beyond repair by the shockwave of the gas explosion on the day of the incident, making it impossible to turn it on. The investigators never thought to check her phone’s browsing history, so they naturally didn’t think to have it repaired.

After the case discussion meeting in the morning, Wu Shuqi returned to her office, racking her brains about how to break the investigative deadlock in the “7.18” poisoning case and the Zhu Houshi murder case. Suddenly, a thought flashed in her mind: Why not check Lü Yuchan’s phone’s internet history? Maybe the case would take a turn for the better!

So, she immediately sent someone to take Lü Yuchan’s phone to a mobile phone repair shop. After the phone was repaired, she had colleagues from the technical department check the internet history, and they actually found something.

This was a major discovery, and Wu Shuqi and her colleagues were very excited.

Some time ago, the Municipal Bureau also sent “crime-solving experts” to assist in the investigation, but they returned empty-handed.

Because the case had not been solved for a long time, Wu Shuqi and her comrades were very anxious.

Wu Zhi took a sip of hot tea and said to Wu Shuqi, who was next to him, “Could it be that Lü Yuchan was the murderer in the ‘7.18’ poisoning case, and we made a mistake in the direction of our investigation from the beginning?”

Wu Shuqi shook her head and said, “You were also thinking about this question just now, but it doesn’t make sense logically. Lü Yuchan had grievances and hatred with Ning Yaohong, but she had no reason to poison Ning Yaohong and her son, let alone put her own life on the line.”

Wu Zhi thought about it and said, “Then, could it be that on the night of May 7, Lü Yuchan suddenly had the idea of poisoning her husband, so she went online to search for information about cyanide?”

Wu Shuqi nodded and said, “That possibility cannot be ruled out, but that would be too coincidental.”

Sun Rumin said, “There is another possibility, which is that Xiong Zhiyang used his wife’s mobile phone while she was asleep. Why would he do this? I guess there are two possibilities:

“First, he secretly checked his wife’s chat history with Li Yuehua and may have seen information that made him extremely unhappy, so he had the idea of using cyanide to poison Li Yuehua and conveniently used his wife’s phone to go online and check the toxicological effects of cyanide.

“Of course, man proposes, God disposes. Xiong Zhiyang certainly didn’t expect Li Yuehua to escape by chance, while his wife and Li Yuehua’s wife and children became innocent victims.”

Wu Shuqi nodded and said, “That makes sense.”

Wu Zhi said, “Wu, should we take Xiong Zhiyang back for interrogation?”

Wu Shuqi shook her head and said, “Not for the time being.”

Wu Zhi asked confusedly, “Then how will the next work unfold?”

Sun Rumin and Wu Zhi said in unison, “We noticed it, what’s wrong?”

Wu Shuqi said, “I always feel like something is wrong…”

Wu Zhi said, “Could it be that he inadvertently knew his father’s unspeakable secret, and this secret is related to the ‘7.18’ poisoning case? Therefore, when he saw you police, he thought you were going to arrest his father, so he had such an emotional reaction?”

Wu Shuqi remained noncommittal.

Other colleagues said that this was possible.

Wu Zhi said, “That kid has dropped out of school.”

Wu Shuqi turned to look at Wu Zhi and asked in surprise, “Dropped out of school?”

“Yes!” Wu Zhi said, “Last Wednesday, I went to Jinxiu Garden to do something and accidentally saw that kid. I casually asked a resident of the community why that kid didn’t go to school. The resident said that the kid had dropped out of school and that dropping out of school must have been affected by his mother’s death.”

Wu Zhi responded, got up, and followed Wu Shuqi out.

After driving the car out of the Public Security Bureau gate, Wu Zhi asked, “Wu, are you really just here to visit that child?”

Wu Shuqi smiled mysteriously, “What do you think?”

Half an hour later, Wu Zhi drove the car into Jinxiu Garden. After parking the car, Wu Shuqi and Wu Zhi got out of the car and walked towards a unit building, taking the elevator quickly to the front door of Xiong Zhiyang’s house.

Wu Zhi knocked on the door, but after knocking for a long time, no one opened it.

Suddenly, a boy wearing a moon-white short-sleeved T-shirt, with a delicate appearance but a lonely expression, came out of the elevator. When he found two familiar faces standing at his door, his face changed. He wanted to turn around and leave, but Wu Shuqi quickly stopped him.

This child was Xiong Zhiyang’s son, Xiong Tong.

Xiong Tong hesitated for a moment, but still walked to Wu Shuqi’s side.

Xiong Tong shook his head.

Xiong Tong hesitated for a moment, but still took out the key and silently opened the door, letting Wu Shuqi and Wu Zhi enter the house.
