FBH Chapter 27
by REX-NOVELISTSAt the foot of a secluded mountain called Chanjing Temple, the grass and trees were lush, and rocks were scattered everywhere, making it clear that this was a place rarely visited by people.
This pit was dug by professional workers hired by the temple, as the temple planned to build a well here and then use a water pump to draw the water into the temple to solve its water problem. The funds for building the well were provided by Li Yuehua.
Why did Li Yuehua fund the construction of the well?
According to him, the poisoning deaths of his wife, son, and friend caused him great grief and guilt, and he hoped to alleviate his inner pain by doing charity within his capabilities.
Li Yuehua believed that building the well was a very important matter and should not be taken lightly. Therefore, he made a special trip early in the morning, wanting to watch the well, which carried his sorrow, be built under his own eyes. If he found anything unsatisfactory during the construction process, he would make suggestions for improvement to the construction workers.
Not only that, he was deeply involved in the conception stage of the well. The style, patterns, and words of the well were all determined after repeated discussions between him and the temple. The location of the well was also decided after he and the temple conducted on-site inspections.
Now it was lunchtime, and the construction workers had all gone to eat. Only Li Yuehua remained at the construction site. He didn’t plan to eat now because he had eaten something when he came and didn’t feel hungry.
Li Yuehua hoped that the well would be completed and put into use as soon as possible to fulfill his wish.
What he didn’t know was that outside the woods, not far from him, a pair of sinister eyes were secretly watching him.
This person was Zhou Yu.
How did Zhou Yu know Li Yuehua had gone here? And what was he planning to do to Li Yuehua, acting so furtively?
The story starts five days ago.
When Li Yuehua talked about the poisoning deaths of his wife and children, he appeared very sad. He said that he wanted to donate a well for them, and that he had entrusted an acquaintance to negotiate with the recipient. He would soon go to the recipient to finalize the donation and discuss the details of the well construction.
He stood up, and ran out of the door as if fleeing.
Back at his own place, he realized he was covered in cold sweat.
He tightly closed his hand, looking at the powder outside the bottle as if looking at an extremely terrifying demon! He felt a wave of fear when he remembered the situation in which he almost mixed it into the food. He knew very well that the bottle contained a chemical poison called “arsenic trioxide,” commonly known as arsenic, and only 60-100 milligrams would be enough to kill Li Yuehua.
In fact, he had planned to find an opportunity to poison Li Yuehua’s food when Li Yuehua went to the restaurant to order food, but he never had the chance.
He had a long-standing grudge against Li Yuehua. If the flat-headed woman hadn’t threatened him with the video of him being kicked down by Li Fei, he would never have thought of harming Li Yuehua’s life.
After being threatened by the flat-headed man, he had the idea of turning himself in to the public security bureau, but then he thought that once he was imprisoned, he would live a bleak life without freedom, and he lost the courage.
Suddenly, **his cell phone rang (this cell phone and SIM card were specially given to him by the flat-headed woman; he always used this cell phone and SIM card number to contact the flat-headed woman, the purpose of course was to try to escape police investigation before the poisoning case). Without even looking, he knew it was the flat-headed woman calling, and he cursed, “Damn it!” before reluctantly picking up the phone.
The person on the other end asked in a muffled voice, “Was the mission completed?”
Zhou Yu hesitated for a moment: “No, I… I didn’t have a chance to get close to him.”
“I saw you enter his room, how can you say you didn’t have a chance?” the person on the other end said, very dissatisfied.
The person on the other end was noncommittal, and said, “Come out, now, let’s talk!”
Zhou Yu knew that he was a puppet in his hands, and had no choice but to agree.
Fifteen minutes later, Zhou Yu met the flat-headed man in a car.
“Are you just too scared, so you don’t dare to act against Li Yuehua?” the flat-headed woman asked with a cold face.
Zhou Yu nodded woodenly and said, “I am really scared, can you not…”
The flat-headed woman was taken aback, turned to look at Zhou Yu, and asked, “What do you mean?”
Xiong Zhiyang laughed indifferently, spread his hands, and said, “I can give it to the police, you have no opinion.”
Zhou Yu was stunned again, took the small bottle out of his pants pocket, looked at the white powder inside, and asked, half believing and half doubting, “Is it really starch?”
Zhou Yu suddenly understood.
Zhou Yu looked at him uneasily: “Are you still planning to hand that video over to the police?”
“If it were me, what would I do? Would I be asking for trouble?” Xiong Zhiyang asked.
“Give me that thing.”
“What thing?”
“Arsenic.”
“It doesn’t matter, I just want to get rid of the prison disaster.”
“Don’t worry, as long as I complete the mission, I guarantee that the police and Li Fei’s family won’t find my head.”
The car drove slowly down the street.
Zhou Yu suddenly said, “Li Yuehua said he wanted to donate a well for his dead wife and children.”
“Why does he want to donate a well?” Xiong Zhiyang was stunned.
“He said their deaths made him feel very painful, and donating a well was to reduce the pain in his heart.”
“He killed his own wife, son, and my wife, he should go to hell!”
“Do I have to poison him to death to relieve my hatred?”
“Even if I don’t act against him, the wheels of justice will eventually catch up with him and he will be severely punished by the law…”
“The wheels of justice, that’s just your beautiful imagination! If the police can’t find evidence of his poisoning, he will continue to roam free.”
“You think…”
“Okay, I won’t say it then.”
Zhou Yu suddenly understood, thinking to himself that it was no wonder he often saw him coughing.
“Regarding the deaths of Li Yuehua’s wife and children and my wife, the online discussions about him are overwhelming. My purpose in using arsenic to poison him is to make the outside world believe that he felt guilty and scared because of the deaths of his wife, son, and lover, and that he committed suicide by taking poison to escape responsibility!”
Zhou Yu was chilled to the bone.
After getting the arsenic from Xiong Zhiyang, Zhou Yu did not immediately poison Li Yuehua. One reason was that he didn’t have the opportunity, and the other was that he was worried that if Li Yuehua was poisoned to death in the apartment, the police would list him as a key suspect in the investigation. He had no choice but to wait for an opportunity to commit the crime, an opportunity that he thought was the best.
Zhou Yu’s delay in acting against Li Yuehua aroused Xiong Zhiyang’s dissatisfaction. Xiong Zhiyang didn’t care where he acted, but the initiative was in Zhou Yu’s hands, and Xiong Zhiyang had no way to deal with him.
Yesterday, after Zhou Yu learned of Li Yuehua’s travel arrangements for today, he told Xiong Zhiyang the situation. After the two discussed it, they felt that finding an opportunity to kill Li Yuehua outside was a good choice.
Early this morning, Xiong Zhiyang and Zhou Yu waited on the only road Li Yuehua had to take to Chanjing Temple. When Xiong Zhiyang saw Li Yuehua’s car drive past, he immediately drove after it.
